Bryan and Marijo Cuerrier show how they value everyday after battling flesh-eating disease.
News photography assignment this week was a one prop portrait.
I had the idea in my mind of doing a shot of a kid playing a video game. I used one flash with a green gel to represent the TV for her face. Then a second flash to light up the prop (game controller).
I knocked on my neighbors door nine o clock Saturday night to borrow her 14 year old daughter to take pictures of her. Not creepy at all. Lol.
Luckly they were ok with it but I had to wait till this morning.
My assignment is due at 4 pm today. It is done and I am happy with the results.
Thanks to Alex Woods for being my model early this morning.
Cheers Linda
In my second year of photojournalism most of my projects have been about Bryan Cuerrier and his wife Marijo.
Two of the nicest people I have ever met. Over the next month I will be posting more about their story. For now I am going to share my short photo story “Lunch with Bryan”

Para Cadet reedited
I had an assignment for editing class called shoot your fear or weakness.
I am terrified of clowns. It is the unknown of them. I am also scared of the dark, large bodies of water, and mascots. Clowns are my biggest fear. I hate that I do not know what is going on under that makeup.
So I set out to find a clown. I ended up finding Monica aka “Chuckles the Clown” based out of Kingston.
With a few other photo J’s in tow I made my way to Kingston. I sighed and whined the whole way there.
When I got to my destination Monica “Chuckles” met me with a smile and a handshake. She was so bubbly and fun it was impossible not to like her. She was very patient with me the whole shoot. I even gave her a hug after we were done.
I may not be over my fear of all clowns but at least I like one now. That is a start.
Happy Thanksgiving
It is the day after thanksgiving. I am sitting here recouping from two days of good food, friends and family.
I spent my Thanksgiving morning interviewing an amazing couple. Just a year ago the husband lost both of his legs, one arm, and the tips of his fingers on the other hand to flesh eating disease. His wife (at the time of the operations she was his girlfriend) stood by his side the whole time.
Even though it has only been a year since losing his limbs he has been biking, golfing, sailing and even got married. They both have a love life and get on with it attitude.
I realized for myself I am so thankful for the career I have chosen. Being a journalist has allowed me to meet so many amazing people and to hear such incredible stories.
Of course I am grateful for my family, health, and friends but my career choice tops the list this year. I am so grateful for all the people who have opened up their lives for me and looking forward to the new people I meet in the future.
